Banijay’s new Banijay Mexico & U.S. Hispanic production label is partnering with Mexican comedy star, actor and writer Ricardo O’Farrill (Last One Laughing Mexico) on a new unscripted comedy series.
The as-yet-untitled series will follow a team of comedians led by O’Farrill (pictured), who is in charge of finding “solutions” to everyday problems through comedy, research and interviews with experts. Joining him are fellow Last One Laughing Mexico comics Isabel Fernandez and Karla Camacho, as well as 23-year-old breakout Josuesy.
O’Farrill is the first comedian in Latin America to have two comedy specials on Netflix. In addition to winning the second season of Prime Video’s LOL, he currently has two YouTube series.
“This is a series that we believe has the potential to become a successful format that can be produced locally on a territory-by-territory basis,” said Banijay Mexico & U.S. Hispanic managing director Marie Leguizamo in a release.
Banijay Mexico & U.S. Hispanic announced last month that it had signed a deal with Becky G. to produce an unscripted music-focused docuseries as part of its initial slate. The studio is also set to produce the next season of LOL in Mexico for Prime Video.
